Dear WMKA Dojo Owners,
I hope you are arranging your schedule to attend “The Memorial Events for Soke in Okinawa”. We are expecting to see you and your students in Okinawa in October & November.
We previously announced that wewillfollow the Dan promotion test procedure stated in the “WMKA Agreement with Dojo Owner” and will adopt rules in Okinawa for “Required years, Minimum age and Promotion test fees” which isn’t clearly stated in the “WMKA Agreement with Dojo Owner”.
However, as we missed some information last time about the fees, we are posting an additional table below along with an explanation of the fee structure. If you view the chart we previously posted in the Dojo Owner’s News Page on March 23, 2014 it appears that the Dan promotion fees are double of what you normally pay based on “The Fees for Dan Certification tested by Dojo Owners overseas” (posted on the first page of the “Dojo Owners” page of the website). Please understand that you will actually be paying the same amount in fees for the Dan promotion in Okinawa as you would be paying from your own country, but because we are modeling the system after how we do things in Okinawa, it just appears to be twice the amount. The table below demonstrates how we collect dan promotion fees and then refund the dojo owners 50% here in Okinawa. We tried to model the fees for overseas participants to be the same as we do here in Okinawa while you are visiting for the seminar. We hope that the table below will hopefully clarify this for you.

Remarks:
1. All the students have to pay dan promotion test fees in red letter based on the above table to take dan promotion test in Okinawa which is the rule in Okinawa.
2. We share the fees between Okinawa Headquarters and their Dojo Owners 50% each. Therefore, we will refund 50% of the fees to their Dojo Owners after the Dan Promotion Test in November 2014.
3. However, we will not refund 50% of the fees to Dojo Owners in two cases below.
(1) When any Dojo Owner wants to take dan promotion test, he has to pay fees as a participant based on the table above. However, we do not refund him 50% because he is an independent Dojo owner and has no teacher on top of him in his Dojo.
(2) When anyone comes to Okinawa and wants to take dan promotion test, we have to arrange an un-scheduled dan promotion test only for him and it affect us. Therefore, we will not refund 50% of the fees to his Dojo Owner in this kind of situation.
Note: To avoid the cash refund trouble after the Dan promotion test in Okinawa, we can just ask the 50% fees to all overseas participants (except Dojo Owners) if it is better for Dojo Owners and students.
※Okinawa Headquarters’ testing committee can give a chance for dan promotion test or appellation to the persons who have a special situation or are very excellent in their karate performance or activities.
Though Soke set special allowanced fees during the 75th Foundation anniversary in 2010, we will adopt the current rules in WMKA & Okinawa for dan promotion test this time. We want to postpone a special allowance for future joyous occasion.
We want to make success of the memorial event to” Honor Soke and his Legacy”. The events will give us
a chance to meet each other face to face and strengthen the bond of the members from around the world.
The success of the events will make Soke happy and also unit us for future WMKA.
We thank for your consideration to arrange your annual schedule to attend “The Memorial Events for Soke
in Okinawa”
Sincerely Yours,
President Yoshitaka Taira
